PHOENIX -- Heavy rains and thunderstorms affected residents all over the state of Arizona over the weekend.

Flooding in the Wickenburg area claimed the life of a 65-year-old man on Saturday night. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said the man was attempting to drive through running water when his SUV was swept down a wash.

Rescuers took the man to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A man also died in Lake Havasu City after his vehicle was swept away by flood waters on Friday night.

Crown King also dealt with flooding over the weekend, as the Gladiator Fire that hit the region earlier this summer has left the area even more vulnerable to excessive rain. Roads in Crown King were washed out by the water, making it difficult for residents to get in and out of the area.

The Valley wasn’t able to escape the wet weather either, as much of the eastern part of the city was soaked on Saturday afternoon.

The rain moved back into the Phoenix area on Sunday, along with blowing dust.

A flash flood watch was also put in place for northern Arizona on Sunday, and will remain in effect until Sunday night.

The rain could continue on both Monday and Tuesday, but the weather will be drying out by the second half of the work week. Temperatures are expected to get back up around 106 in the Valley by Thursday and Friday.
