PHOENIX -- Red Flag Warnings were canceled out for Northern Arizona on Thursday afternoon. This after we saw peak wind gusts near 50 miles an hour at Bullhead City and Flagstaff.

The strong winds are expected to shift overnight into Friday making it a windy and dry day in southeast Arizona. The southeast corner of the state is under a Red Flag Warning until 2 p.m. Friday.

The peak wind recorded in the Valley on Thursday was 40 miles per hour at Sun City. At Sky Harbor Airport, the peak gust was just shy of 30 mph.

Friday morning we’ll start off with some gusty winds in some locations around the Valley, especially around the mountains. Then we’ll stay warm and dry through the weekend.

Longer range outlook: We have a chance for showers on Monday (not a lock) and cooler temperatures (locked in) as a rare, May storm system is headed towards Arizona.
