PHOENIX -- Valley temperatures are climbing fast this week. Monday and Tuesday brought afternoon temperatures in the upper 70s, but today we're expected to top out near 80 degrees. That's a full 10 degrees above what's considered average for this time of year for the Valley -- and it's just the beginning.
As a ridge of high pressure builds over the Southwest, afternoon temperatures will soar, peaking on Saturday near 90 degrees.
Mid-80s are likely Thursday and Friday, and temperatures fall back to the low 80s by the start of next week. Dry weather is likely as the ridge blocks any storms from coming near Arizona. Overnight lows will stay mild in the mid 40s to mid 50s around town.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday are all expected to break daily high temperature records. the last time the Valley was above 85 degrees in the month of February was 25 years ago.
Although temperatures will retreat a bit next week, it will still stay fairly warm for this time of year.
