PHOENIX -- Temperatures return to near-average today across Arizona, with the deserts topping out near the triple-digit mark. Look for a high of 99 degrees today in the Valley with sunny skies and light winds.

Tonight, lows will drop to the mid 60s to low 70s around town.

A ridge of high pressure strengthening over the Southwest will bring temperatures up over the next few days, with highs near 101 expected tomorrow, and a near-record high of 109 forecast for Friday.

The heat shouldn't be as big of an issue over the weekend when afternoon temperatures only hover near 100 degrees.

There's still no rain in sight.

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has extended yesterday's Ozone Health Watch in the Valley to today.

Ozone levels are expected to approach unhealthy levels today, so people with sensitive respiratory systems are encouraged to limit their time outdoors.  Carpool if you can, and refuel after dark.

Ozone levels are expected to be even higher tomorrow.
