PHOENIX -- After a cool and stormy weekend, a warm and windy new week is ahead for Arizona.
As our storm advances east, a ridge of high pressure begins to build to our west. That ridge is forecast to strengthen this week, which will warm our temperatures and keep our skies clear.
Valley residents can expect afternoon temperatures in the mid to upper 80s this afternoon. Look for westerly winds between 5 and 15 mph.
Slightly windier conditions can be expected Tuesday through Thursday as several weather disturbances slide by to our north. Skies will stay clear and temperatures will begin to warm, but winds will be out of the northwest between 10 and 20 mph Tuesday and up to 25 mph on Wednesday.
Look for a slow warm-up this week. Temperatures will be in the mid 90s by the end of the week and in the upper 90s this weekend. Overnight lows will range from the mid 50s to mid 60s.
No rain is expected in the next seven days.
