PHOENIX -- The warmest temperatures so far this year are in the forecast for the week ahead. After a mild weekend in the low 80s, afternoon highs will rise to the upper 80s today and into the low 90s tomorrow.
By Wednesday, we'll see temperatures peak near 96 degrees, and we'll come just a few degrees shy of the 100-degree record for Thursday with a forecast high of 97 degrees.
Friday's temperatures will be nearly as warm before a dry storm system drops us back to the 80s next weekend.
Overnight lows will range from the upper 50s to upper 60s around town this week.
The average date we see 90 degrees for the first time is April 2. The earliest the Valley has seen a 90 degree day was Feb. 24, 1904. And last year, we topped out at 90 degrees for the first time on March 14.
