PHOENIX -- Tuesday brings abundant sunshine across Arizona and the hottest day of the year so far for the Valley. Look for temperatures to rise to about 105 degrees by lunchtime, peaking a few hours later at 111 degrees. The record for today's date is 115 degrees and the average high is 107 degrees.

Strong high pressure will bring very hot temperatures the rest of this week, especially today and tomorrow, when we'll peak near 111 degrees again.

Eventually, our ridge shifts a bit east by Wednesday and Thursday, and we'll begin to see monsoon moisture begin to move into the state from the south and southeast.  This will lead to storm chances across the state, and eventually the Valley as well, especially on Friday and Saturday.

There's a 20 percent chance of storms in the Valley Friday, which is the 4th of July, and again on Saturday.  The best chances are still for blowing dust between Thursday and Sunday afternoons and evenings.
