PHOENIX – This weekend around Arizona will almost be the exact opposite of last weekend.
Remember the cold temperatures, the rain and the snow in the high country? Well think warm and dry for this weekend with temperatures rising to above normal for this time of year.
In the Valley we expect a breezy Saturday but lots of sunshine both Saturday and Sunday. Both days, look for highs in the mid-90s. We may see a couple of locations get into the upper-90s. In the high country, those daytime highs will be in the 70s and 80s - quite nice, which is a sure hint that spring weather is finally beginning to assert itself in the desert southwest.
The longer range models, up to two weeks ahead, are showing more of the same. We’re not expecting any precipitation to speak of and temperatures will be at or just above normal. In the even longer term, there are no big changes on the outlook for the monsoon. At this point it looks like we’ll probably get about normal rainfall and above normal temperatures in the summer of 2011.
By the way, mark your calendar for June 8 at 6:30 p.m. Right after Good Evening Arizona, we’re going to present our monsoon special for 2011. We’re already working on it and it looks GREAT!
