PHOENIX -- Moderating temperatures will be the weather story over the next couple of days. We'll also be seeing some high clouds from time to time over the state through the weekend. Highs through the weekend in the deserts will be in the mid-90s, a little bit above average. Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s to low 70s, depending on your location around the Valley.

The high country will enjoy cool morning temperatures with lows in the 30s, 40s and 50s. But during the daytime hours, with mostly sunny skies, afternoon temperatures will be at or just above normal for this time of year in the mountains.

As we get into the middle of next week, we're looking for highs in the 80s, but not much of a chance for rain anywhere in the state. In fact, this quiet, dry, rather seasonal weather pattern may get rooted over Arizona for the next couple of weeks, which isn't that unusual for this time of year.

Oh, so when is the last 100-degree temp of the year? Well, we may have had it, but don't give the all clear until the third week of October. The latest during any year metro Phoenix recorded a 100-degree reading was on Oct. 23, 2003.
