PHOENIX -- Monsoon storms rolled through the Valley Saturday night, leaving a swath of damage from strong winds in the North Valley.

The National Weather Service confirms a microburst hit near 40th Street and Greenway Road, bringing a 69 mph wind gust around 11 p.m. Saturday night. More than an inch of rain fell in that area as well, while nearby gauges in Scottsdale saw only about a quarter inch of rain.

Power was out at one point to about 15,000 customers and large tree branches could be seen crushing cars in the area.

Light rain fell Sunday morning across the Valley, but the day ahead is expected to be quiet in the Valley with a chance of storms again this evening. Look for a high this afternoon near 105 degrees.

There is a continued chance of storms Monday and Tuesday before drier air limits storm development by midweek.
