PHOENIX -- A storm system tracking through the Great Basin will bring a small chance of light showers across northern and eastern Arizona by Friday and into Saturday. The Valley is expected to stay dry.
Early Thursday morning, satellite/radar imagery showed a batch of clouds moving into western Arizona ahead of the storm. This cloud cover will fill into the Valley and most of the state through the day. In Phoenix, expect an afternoon high of around 83.
As the tail of the storm tracks into northern Arizona Friday, winds will increase, especially across the high country where gusts could reach up to 35 mph through Saturday. In the Valley, winds will be lighter, reaching speeds of up to 15 mph.
Most of the cloud cover should clear out of the Valley Friday and Saturday. Highs will drop a couple of degrees, but should remain around 80. The normal high for this time of the year in Phoenix is 74.
