PHOENIX -- As a ridge of high pressure builds into Arizona, we’re going to see temperatures spike around the state.
Right now, it looks like Saturday will be the warmest day of the weekend, but both days will see temperatures running about 10 degrees above average.
We’re currently forecasting 99 degrees for Saturday and 98 for Sunday.
Yes, it’s entirely possible we’ll get to 100 degrees this weekend. That would be the first time this year and if we get there, it will be a couple of weeks early. The average first 100-degree reading is on May 12.
After the weekend, the spring roller coaster continues.
We’ll start seeing temperatures drop again and by the middle of next week, expect highs below normal, only in the mid 80s.
No rain is in the forecast, of course. May is the second driest month of the year with an average of only .11 inch of rain. By the way, June is the driest month on average for Phoenix.
