PHOENIX -- Persistent high pressure centered over northern Mexico will maintain near- to above-normal temperatures and very dry conditions into next week, with only slight fluctuations in temperatures expected each day.

Rising heights and building high pressure overhead have led to clear skies across southeast California and the western half of Arizona today.

Early afternoon satellite imagery revealed mountain wave clouds across far southeast Arizona. However, this moisture surge seems to be confined to the southern portion of Arizona. This increase in moisture comes ahead of an approaching upper level trough diving southward from the Pacific northwest, in which our moisture will quickly dry out.

Temperatures across south-central Arizona will continue at 4 to 6 degrees above seasonal normal through Friday before cooling off, relatively speaking, to near normal through the weekend and into early next week.
