PHOENIX -- The first day of 2014 will be a pleasant one for Arizona with afternoon temperatures soaring well above average with abundant sunshine. After morning temperatures in the 30s, the Valley will see temperatures peaking in the low 70s. Look for sunshine and low 50s to low 60s this afternoon in the high country.
A ridge of high pressure centered to our west will keep temperatures mild and conditions dry through the rest of the week.
Valley residents will be treated to 75 degree highs tomorrow, with only a few degrees of cooling for the afternoons this weekend. Overnight lows will continue to be in the mid 30s to mid 40s and no rain is expected in the next 7 days.
There is a High Pollution Advisory today in the Valley and it is a No Burn Day in Maricopa County. Fine particles, including smoke, were expected to be the biggest culprit, making it tougher for some people to breath today.
