PHOENIX – Okay, it’s not my first day but it’s the first day for our newest weather intern, Emily Roehler.
She graduated from Mountain Pointe High School and is currently working on her meteorology degree at Western Connecticut State University and she’s going to be working mainly in the weather department as our intern for the next several months.
She’s also going to share her experiences, starting now:
My first day at Channel 3 started as you might expect, I pulled into the employee parking lot (with my new card key access!!) and journeyed through the office to find Royal Norman in the forecast center corner.
Royal started off my day by going through the rounds at the station and introducing me to everyone in sight as I tried my best to remember all the names and faces in that blur of introductions. I think I have about 50% down!
After the tour we went through some of the graphic systems that are used to put together the on-air forecasts. They were pretty interesting and I think I’m getting the hang of it.
After the graphics were done, it was time for the newscast to start and I got to watch from behind the scenes where they run the prompters and give the cues. I even got to try my hand at turning the prompter dial.
It’s been a great first day at Channel 3 and I’ll be checking back in tomorrow!
