PHOENIX -- Early morning winds brought blowing dust to the Valley, and a few sprinkles even fell in the East Valley. This afternoon and evening, there's a 20-percent chance of thunderstorms in the Valley with an even better chance for blowing dust.
Look for an afternoon high temperature of 109 degrees this afternoon and an overnight low of just 91 degrees.
There's a chance for thunderstorms throughout the day in the high country and gusty winds are a concern near the fire lines in Yarnell. High-based thunderstorms promise little rain, but gusty winds and potential for dry lightning. Thunderstorm chances continue tomorrow, but drop off a bit on the Fourth of July and into the weekend.
The Excessive Heat Warning in place for the Valley has been extended through 8 p.m. Thursday. The Valley can expect temperatures near 110 on Thursday under partly sunny skies.
Temperatures will drop to near normal levels, near 105-108, this weekend.
