PHOENIX -- Monsoon moisture is slowly returning to the Southwest, increasing our chances for thunderstorms.
The Valley saw some pop-up thunderstorms just after midnight last night, bringing up to 0.12 inch of rain to parts of town, along with gusty winds. Those showers were moving north through Northern Arizona during the late morning hours.
More thunderstorms are possible in the high country today, with slight chances for the Valley to see more rain. Look for increased humidity and an afternoon high of 109 degrees.
About the same is expected tomorrow and through the weekend, with slightly better storm chances Saturday through Monday.
By early next week, we'll finally get some relief from the heat with near-normal temperatures of near 105 degrees expected.
