PHOENIX -- An Excessive Heat Warning continues for the Valley Thursday, as temperatures are set to soar to near 110 degrees this afternoon under mostly sunny skies.
he warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Friday. Friday and through the weekend, temperatures will peak near about 111 degrees, with overnight lows only dropping to the mid to upper 80s.
A ridge of high pressure is building back over Arizona, bringing hotter temperatures, a drier airmass, and slimmer storm chances.
While isolated storms are possible across Southern Arizona today and through the weekend, it's unlikely storms will come anywhere near the Valley or even produce blowing dust.
The next change in that pattern looks to come by about the middle of next week.
By the Fourth of July, there's a slight chance of storms with a forecast high of 105 degrees.
