PHOENIX -- Some of the hottest temperatures of the year are coming our way this weekend.
As high pressure builds and strengthens over our region, the mercury will rise to about 101 degrees this afternoon in the Valley. Look for clear skies and sunshine today and through the weekend, with temperatures steadily warming through Sunday.
Highs Saturday will top out near 106 degrees and near 108 on Sunday, just two degrees away from the record for that date.
As the ridge of high pressure weakens slightly, temperatures will fall off a few degrees but stay above average near 105 degrees most of next week.
No rain is in sight, and the Valley is under an Ozone Health Watch today that could be extended into Saturday as well.
Ground level ozone is unhealthy to breathe, so limit your time outside if you have asthma or a sensitive respiratory system. Carpool if you can, and if you need to refuel, do it after dark.
