PHOENIX -- An Excessive Heat Warning for the Valley has been extended to include Saturday, as the heat shows no sign of letting up anytime soon.
Friday's forecast high of 111 degrees is about five degrees above average for this time of year. Although we won't break any records, afternoon highs will likely be at least 110 degrees all the way through the weekend.
Overnight lows will only dip to the 80s in the Valley.
As high pressure builds over the Southwest, temperatures are set to soar while the flow of monsoon moisture from the south disappears temporarily.
Storms will be very limited in Arizona until early next week when there is a slight chance of monsoon thunderstorms from Monday on, including the Fourth of July. Temperatures look like they'll level off a couple of degrees by then, too.
