PHOENIX -- The new week ahead looks to be an especially hot one. An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for much of Pinal and Maricopa Counties, including the Valley metro area from 10 a.m. Monday  through 8 p.m. Wednesday. Afternoon temperatures should range from 109 to 112 degrees.

Look for possible storms today in the high country of Northern and Eastern Arizona, with a slight chance of a stray thunderstorm this afternoon or evening in the Valley.

Storm chances decrease through Wednesday as drier air moves in to Arizona.

Afternoon temperatures stay near 110 degrees through the end of the week in the Valley, but storm chances begin to increase again Thursday through the weekend.

Overnight lows stay especially warm this week, too, struggling to dip below the mid 80s.
