PHOENIX -- The unofficial end of summer will bring very hot temperatures for parts of Arizona.
The Valley will warm it up to about 108 degrees Monday afternoon, which is about 4 degrees above average. The weekend brought even hotter weather, with a high of 111 degrees Saturday and 109 degrees on Sunday.
Clear skies are expected statewide with light winds and low humidity. Our monsoon season has about a month to go still, but the monsoon weather pattern is not in place this week so dry and quiet weather is expected.
Our monsoon high is forecast to begin setting up over our region again by the end of this week, leading to deeper monsoon moisture returning to Arizona. We could also get a monsoon boost from a tropical system forecast to develop near the Baja Peninsula. Monsoon storms, along with cooler temperatures, are back in the forecast for Friday and next weekend.
