PHOENIX -- For the first time this week (and during this October) the Valley will avoid the triple-digits today.
After a cool start with lows in the 60s, we'll warm up to only about 97 degrees this afternoon.
Temperatures will fall off even more over the weekend, with partly sunny skies and highs near 93 by Sunday. Overnight lows will continue to dip to the 60s.
Temperatures are coming down because the ridge of high pressure that is parked over the Southwest is slowly losing its strength as storms pass by to our north.
A stronger fall storm will move in next week, bringing temperatures down even more, and possibly bringing rain by Wednesday or Thursday.
With or without rain, look for afternoon highs to dip to the mid 80s and overnight lows possibly in the 50s.
