RAINBOW VALLEY, Ariz. – A young woman is dead after a fight among friends ended in an early morning shooting. Police have detained three people.

It happened at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at a home in the area of 203rd Avenue and Ray Road in Rainbow Valley, just south of Buckeye.

The victim's family has identified her as Cassandra Gonzalez.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, five to eight people, including a 3-year-old child, were at a house party hosted by Gonzalez, her 14-year-old brother and a 23-year-old family friend.

Gonzalez's mother is traveling for her new job. She left Tuesday night.

Gonzalez, 22, reportedly decided it was time for the party to come to an end and everybody to leave. There was some kind of altercation as the party was wrapping up.

According to investigators, Gonzalez went into the house and grabbed a shotgun.

She got into an argument with a man in his 20s as he was getting into his car. The toddler was in the back seat.

After telling Gonzalez to drop the shotgun, the man pulled out a handgun and fired several shots. Gonzalez was hit multiple times. She died of her injuries.

Three people have been detained for questioning. MCSO has not released any information about them. At this point, no arrests have been made.

The victim's mother learned about the shooting from a neighbor.

Buckeye is about 45 minutes southwest of Phoenix.
