TEMPE, Ariz. -- Racial tensions are on the rise in Tempe, where a white supremacist group is reportedly planning a march this weekend.

The "White Man March" is said to be set for Saturday during an already-scheduled concert at Tempe Beach Park. According to the White Man March website, the purpose of the march is: "To spread information through activism, but also to make a statement that White people are united in their love for their race and in their opposition to its destruction."

Concert organizers say they are aware of the planned march, but had no further comment.

The white supremacy group organizing the march is called the "White Man March." The man behind the march is Kyle Hunt. According to his website, he wants to stop what he calls "discrimination against whites."

A group from Redemption Church in Tempe was at the site in Tempe Thursday night, praying for an end to hateful messages.

"I really think it's such a shame," says one woman. "Tempe is such a diverse city, and I think that's what makes Tempe so unique and so interesting. It's such a draw for a lot people. For someone to come in and try to protest that, I think it's terrible. I think it's very disrespectful to the people of the city and to people everywhere in general from different races and different cultures and different backgrounds."

Tempe Police say they're aware of the planned march and plan to monitor the situation. They're also aware of a possible counter-demonstration being organized online.
