GLENDALE, Ariz. -- A truck slammed into a crowded bus stop in Glendale Tuesday night, sending one woman to the hospital.
It happened near Olive and 59th avenues.
Glendale police said that around 7 p.m., a woman driving a white car was headed west on Olive when she made a U-turn at the intersection. That's when a blue truck collided with the car.
The collision sent the truck slamming into the bus stop
Police say at least 10 people were standing or sitting at the bus stop when the truck plowed into the group. Most of them were Glendale Community College students.
One woman was struck by the truck and pushed through the metal backstop. She was sent to the hospital, but her injuries are not life-threatening.
Witnesses describe the terrifying moment when it happened.
"I just saw a car coming and I moved so fast," one young man said. "But she was sitting and she couldn't move too fast."
Neither driver was injured. Police said they believe the woman driving the car may have been distracted and talking on her cellphone. There is no word on whether she will be cited.
