PHOENIX -- Thursday started with a rumble of thunder for parts of the Valley. Early morning storms brought about 0.25 inch of rain to the West Valley, while the rest of town was treated to a lightning show.
The storms brought temperatures down to the low 80s for much of the morning.
Under mostly cloudy skies, we're expecting to warm to the mid 90s today with a chance for afternoon and evening thundershowers. The chances are at about 30 percent for the Valley today, but much higher in the higher elevations of Northern and Eastern Arizona.
There is an abundance of moisture in the atmosphere so storms today have the potential to produce heavy rain. Flooding could be an issue in the high country, especially in areas recently burned by wildfires.
