GLENDALE, Ariz.-- It is the 20-year anniversary of a holiday tradition here in the Valley. In spite of the rain, some lucky folks got a sneak peek at Glendale Glitters.
The lights were gorgeous in Murphy Park and then they were gone. Because it's not officially the Christmas season yet. Thursday was a test run. The lights were on for about an hour and a half.
Contractors started working on stringing the lights in the heat of August so we could enjoy them in the cool of November. One and a half million lights adorn a 16-block neighborhood of Downtown Glendale for the annual Glendale Glitters.
They powered up the lights to check every bulb and breaker to make sure everything goes without a hitch next week. Black Friday is the official kickoff to Glendale Glitters with a program starting at 5:30 p.m. and the flip of the switch at 6 p.m. Captain of the Phoenix Coyotes, Shane Doan, will flip the switch.
