PHOENIX -- People flying into Sky Harbor before Christmas can leave the airport with their gifts wrapped and ready to place under the tree.
Because TSA discourages travelers from bringing wrapped gifts through security, they often end up tossing the wrapping paper and re-wrapping their gifts after leaving the airport.
Five years ago, Sky Harbor began offering a free gift-wrapping service.
It will be available again this year in the Terminal 4 baggage claim area, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday.
The airport added a self-wrapping station this year, which will be available from 6 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday. The self-wrapping station is also in the Terminal 4 baggage claim area.
Sky Harbor is also offering discounted parking during the holidays.
Through Jan. 6, people can download a 40 percent off coupon from Sky Harbor's website and park in terminal garages for $15 per day instead of $25.
Travelers can download the coupon at www.skyharbor.com, and print it out or present it on a mobile device.
People can park in the garages after Jan. 6, but will not continue to receive the discounted rate.
The deal does not apply to economy parking lots and garages, including the Terminal 2 garage.
Sky Harbor offers the following tips for smooth holiday travel:
-Arrive at the airport two hours before your flight departs.
-Before leaving for the airport, review the carry-on rules at www.tsa.gov.
-Check your bags for prohibited items. Food items like pies and cakes are permitted but may require further inspection.
-If you're not sure if an item is considered a liquid or gel, pack it in your checked bag or ship it to your destination.
-For updated parking availability, visit www.skyharbor.com/findaspot on your computer or www.skyharbor.com on your mobile device.
