SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Just weeks after 19 firefighters were killed in the Yarnell Hill fire, our community continues to honor and support the families of the fallen.
Tuesday evening, one valley restaurant is stepping forward to give folks a way to help out.
On Tuesday, SASSI restaurant in Scottsdale is hosting a benefit spaghetti dinner to help the families of the firefighters. 100 percent of sales, plus any donations, will be donated to the Yarnell Fallen Firefighters Fund.
"We just collectively said, what can we do," says Stephen Plunkett of SASSI. "Well, we said we know how to serve people; we know how to cook."
The three-course menu created by SASSI Executive Chef Chris Nicosia includes an Insalata Misticanza with local organic greens and vegetables in a balsamic vinaigrette, imported Italian spaghetti with tomato sauce and the choice of SASSI signature meatballs or house made Italian sausage, and either gelato or sorbet for dessert.
Non-alcoholic beverages including soft drinks, coffee, iced tea are also included. There is a fixed price of $25 per person that does not include alcoholic beverages, sales tax, or a service charge of 20%.
All sales will be donated to the Yarnell Fallen Firefighters Fund, which is a 501(c)3 account created and managed by the United Phoenix Fire Fighters Association together with the Prescott Fire Fighters Charities.
The Scottsdale Fire Department station 614 is supporting this event by sending a fire truck. The entire engine company and their families will be joining together for the dinner.
Reservations will be accepted from 5:30 to 9:00 in the evening. For reservations to SASSI's Granite Mountain Hotshots Dinner go to www.sassi.biz and select Reservations. The restaurant is located at:
