PHOENIX -- While millions will take to the road and the sky this last holiday weekend of summer, those who run Valley resorts are tying to entice others to celebrate with them.
Alicia Markham's website, Dealsinaz.com, highlights a number of resorts offering cut rate deals for the long Labor Day weekend.
"This is the perfect place to enjoy a staycation," Markham said. "With so many resorts offering so many specials."
The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess resort is offering a cruise ship theme for those who didn't have a chance to take to the high seas this year.
Pam Gilbert, the director of marketing and sales, says rooms starting at $149 a night are one half of the usual rate. And with a $159 a night special there's a $50 food and drink voucher included.
The Princess offers five swimming pools and a number of water slides and Gilbert says as of Wednesday evening, there are still around 100 rooms available for the upcoming weekend.
The Phoenician at 6000 E. Camelback is celebrating their 25th Anniversary and is also offering a Labor Day Weekend special.
Denise Seomin says for every night a room is occupied at the normal rate of $269, the charge for the following night is just $25. So if you spend four nights there this weekend, you'll end up paying only $50 for two of those nights.
Other Valley resorts, such as the Arizona Biltmore, are also in the Labor Day weekend special mode, so if you and your Arizona family don't feel like hitting the highway there are deals to be had here in your own backyard.
