PHOENIX -- Police are investigating a homicide at a home near 51st Avenue and Indian School Road.

Some people forced their way into the home at about 12:30 Tuesday morning, according to investigators.

The 59-year-old homeowner, Enrique Montes, was shot and killed during the confrontation that took place during that home invasion.

"We don't have a lot of information to go on," said Sgt. Tommy Thompson with the Phoenix Police Department. "Our investigators from the Homicide Unit as well as the Home Invasion Kidnapping Enforcement team are on site. They're going through the process to determine what they can so we can bring these people to justice."

Sgt. Thompson said there were about 4 to 5 adults in the home. Police are interviewing those people with the hopes of obtaining good descriptions of the perpetrators.
