PHOENIX -- The Valley and state got off to a chilly start this Halloween.

Most Valley neighborhoods saw temperatures dip to the low 40s Thursday morning, and much of the high country was below freezing.

Flagstaff saw a low temperature of just 19 degrees. For much of the state, including the Valley, these were the coldest temperatures of the fall so far.

Thursday afternoon will bring sunshine statewide, and a Valley high of about 77 degrees.

The sun sets Thursday night at 5:37 p.m. and by that time temperatures will begin dropping.

If you're heading out for trick-or-treating at around 6 p.m., look for temperatures in the low 70s.

By 7 p.m., we'll see upper 60s across the Valley.

By Friday morning, look for lows again in the mid 40s to mid 50s under clear skies.

High pressure briefly builds into the region from the west for a warm up to the low 80s Friday and upper 80s Saturday.

On Sunday, a mainly dry cold front approaches, bringing temperatures back to the 70s by Monday, and a slight chance of rain and snow for the high country.

No rain is expected in the Valley.
