PHOENIX -- With a high of 115 degrees in Phoenix on Monday, we’ve shattered five record highs in the past 7 days.
But we’ve also set another record. We’ve had seven straight days with the temperature not dropping below 90 degrees. That’s made for a rough week. However, we do see some significant changes in play this week.
More moisture is headed into Arizona so that, alone, will bring temperatures down. If we can get a decent outbreak of thunderstorms, we can get some relief across the entire Valley.
In the meantime, we’re forecasting 111 degrees for a high on Tuesday, not a record but right at the threshold where the National Weather Service in Phoenix will issue an Excessive Heat Warning.
That warning will carry through until Wednesday morning with the warm morning temperatures.
After that, we’ll see highs that are more “normal” for this time of year, around 103-107 degrees, and our chances for rain will go up, especially later in the week.
Thunderstorms will also be more active in the higher elevations of our state.
