Map: Armed robbery, felony flight
PHOENIX -- Phoenix police are investigating after a man's car was stolen at gunpoint and the suspects fled from officers early Sunday morning.
At around 2:15 a.m., two suspects stole the 19-year-old victim's 2009 Toyota Corolla while with friends in the area of 83rd and Globe avenues in west Phoenix, according to police spokesman Officer James Holmes.
Patrol officers searched the area but were not able to find any suspects.
Holmes said about two hours later, officers saw the victim's vehicle occupied by four people in the area of 67th Avenue and Indian School Road.
The officers attempted a traffic stop in the area of 59th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard, but the vehicle fled. The driver lost control and crashed into a wall in the area of 59th Avenue and Van Buren Street.
The four occupants of the vehicle, all juveniles, were detained by the officers.
The victim identified two of the occupants as the suspects who stole his car. The 16-year-old male suspect was detained at the Juvenile Correction Center. The 15-year-old male suspect sustained a non life-threatening injury and was transported to a local hospital. He will be detained at the Juvenile Correction Center upon release.
The other two juveniles in the car are considered "persons of interest." One of them received a non life-threatening injury and was transported to a hospital. The other was detained for questioning.
The victim was not injured.
