SAN LUIS, Ariz. -- Federal authorities say a California man wanted in an Alabama murder case was arrested May 17 near the southern Arizona border.
50-year-old Jose Manuel Martinez has now confessed to more than 30 murders across the country.
Detective TJ Watts, who is working the case in Florida, says that he was a debt collector for the Mexican drug cartel. He has been linked to at least 13 other killings across the nation.
Police say Martinez is from Delano, Calif.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested Martinez after a records check showed that he was wanted on a homicide charge out of Lawrence County in Alabama.
He was extradited from Arizona, and is currently in Alabama
