PHOENIX --  A Valley man is in trouble with the law after allegedly pointing an airsoft gun at some plainclothes policemen.

28-year-old Michael Ryan Patrick faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was arrested last Friday near 43rd Avenue and Greenway Road.

According to the police report, Patrick removed what appeared to be a black, semi-automatic handgun from his waistband, then pointed it at several vehicles as they drove by.

One of those vehicles was occupied by plainclothes officers, who say they felt like they were in danger and were about to be fired upon.

Police say Patrick then put the gun back into his waistband, and continued walking south on 43rd Avenue until his wife picked him up in her car.

The officers followed that car until they were able to stop the vehicle, and take the man into custody.

Officers found a weapon in the car, and Patrick told them it was an airsoft gun. Upon further inspection, the officers determined that it was, in fact, an airsoft gun. It did not have an orange tip.

Patrick was booked due to the fact that the officers believed they were in imminent danger after having a weapon pointed at them and several other vehicles.
