SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- A popular Valley cartoonist will be remembered forever at a Scottsdale park.
On Friday, the city unveiled a statue honoring the late Bil Keane at the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park near Scottsdale Road and Indian Bend.
Keane, who created the comic strip The Family Circus, lived in Paradise Valley before he passed away in 2011.
His cartoons were inspired by his kids and wife, and they often featured landmarks found around Scottsdale.
The 9 x 7 foot statue is called Gitty Up Daddy, and is meant to resemble the characters in Keane’s cartoon.
The statue was paid for by donations.
