LAKE PLEASANT, Ariz. -- After being shut down for health code violations, the Waterfront Bar & Grille at the Pleasant Harbor Marina at Lake Pleasant will be open again starting Saturday.
Marina manager Chad Case says crews have been working 20 hour days this week to remodel the popular restaurant and bar in an effort to cash in on Labor Day weekend visitors.
The Maricopa Water District took over the Waterfront Bar & Grille along with the entire Pleasant Harbor Marina this past April and tried to keep the restaurant open while bringing it up to health code. But last week, after repeatedly being cited by inspectors from the Maricopa County Environmental Services for having a dirty kitchen, too many cobwebs, spiders and other pests, not enough hand washing sinks with soap and paper towels as well as other violations, the restaurant was closed.
Since then, Case says the entire kitchen and bar along with storage and serving areas have been gutted and remodeled.
On Monday when 3TV first was given a tour, workers were busy dismantling equipment while enclosing walkways and adding new air conditioning units.
On Friday morning, Michael LaGrow of Environmental Services inspected the new work and told 3TV the restaurant and bar not only brought all previous problems up to code but went beyond what needed to be done to provide customers with a safe and healthy dining experience.
An exhausted Case wants those who've had a bad experience in the past to give the new and improved Waterfront Bar & Grille another chance.
