PHOENIX -- Investigators are trying to determine if a pair of suspicious early morning fires in one Phoenix neighborhood are connected.

Both were reported within minutes of each other in the area northeast of 38th and Southern avenues.

Firefighters responded to a mobile home fire at about 4 a.m. Crews worked quickly to contain the flames but the fire destroyed the vacant home.

While that was happening, a second fire -- this one in a trash can -- was reported about a block away.

The homeowner said she awoke to a ruckus outside.

Passers-by used a garden hose to douse the fire before it could spread to the house or a car that was parked nearby.

Witnesses reported seeing two people who appeared to be teenagers riding bicycles away from both scenes.

While investigators are calling the fires suspicious, they do not have any suspect information.

If you have any information about either of the fires, call the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377) or 1-800343-TIPS (8477). Spanish speakers may call 480-TESTIGO (837-8446).
