PHOENIX -- A strong cold front moving through Arizona is producing very strong winds in northern and northeast Arizona.
Tuesday afternoon, sustained winds in main areas were running in the 40 to 50 mph range with a peak wind gust near 70 mph reported at Springerville. Show Low was also gusting into the 60 mph range and Prescott recorded wind gusts near 50 mph.
Around metro Phoenix, the winds have not been as intense. Our peak gust Tuesday was in the mid-30 mph range. Winds are expected to diminish tonight, but it will be another breezy day Wednesday across the state.
It will be cooler as well. Valley highs for the next couple of days will be running in the mid-70s with overnight lows in the upper 40s to mid-50s, almost chilly. After that, we're expecting a nice warm-up as we head toward the weekend. By then, look for highs back in the 90s.
