PHOENIX -- An incident at a Phoenix pawn shop ended with a SWAT team being called in and a man being shot in the early morning hours, according to police.

Police were called to Amigo Pawn and Jewelry at 16th Street and Thomas Road at around midnight. A witness said someone, likely either an employee or the store's owner, had barricaded himself into the store.

While police were waiting for the man to come out, SWAT was eventually called in. SWAT was several hours into a standoff when they sent a K-9 unit in. That's when the man barricaded inside is believed to have shot himself.

The subject was rushed to a nearby hospital and is in critical condition. More news as it breaks.
