SUN CITY, Ariz. -- The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says a former posse member has been arrested after child pornography was found on his computer by a repairman.

Sun City resident Roger Byg, 73, was booked into jail on 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a class two felony.

The sheriff's office received a report Monday from a computer repair technician who said he was working on Byg's desktop computer and discovered many pornographic images involving children. He reportedly described the images as extremely disturbing, and said they showed very young children engaged in various sex acts with other children and adults.

On Thursday, detectives from the sheriff's Computer Crimes Division executed a search warrant at Byg's Sun City home near Del Webb Boulevard and Grand Avenue.

During the search, detectives reportedly found a laptop computer containing a substantial amount of child pornography.

"It's pretty frightening. I mean, I don't understand why anybody's doing something like that but I didn't know anything about him," said neigbhor Lenna DeMarco. "This is an awfully quiet neighborhood, you know. It's Sun City for goodness sake."

Neighbors said Byg has only lived in the home for a couple of years.

The sheriff's office said detectives also reviewed the desktop computer worked on by the technician and found several hundred images depicting child pornography. Authorities say the images showed children between the ages of 3 and 14 involved in sex acts.

Byg served on the Sun City Posse board before resigning from the posse early last year, according to the sheriff's office.

He was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail.

3TV reporter Jaime Cerreta knocked on Byg's door Thursday but no one answered.
