PHOENIX – Fire investigators are trying to determine what sparked an early morning fire that gutted a North Phoenix mobile home.
It happened shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday in the area of 27th Avenue north of Deer Valley Road.
Crews were mopping up the scene two hours later as smoke continued to billow off the burned-out mobile home.
Firefighters said the family of three who lived there is out of town so the home was empty when the fire started.
Crews contained the flames to the single mobile home, which had a large add-on room and a secondary roof.
Firefighters stayed on the scene until they were sure that there were no hot spots that could reignite. They finally cleared the area just before 7 a.m.
At this point, it's not known what started the fire. Investigators will be on site to figure that out later in the day.
No injuries were reported.
