PHOENIX -- A dry cold front responsible for gusty winds across Arizona Thursday afternoon will force temperatures to take a tumble Friday.

A wind gust of 64 mph was reported at the Flagstaff Airport just after 3 p.m. In the Valley, Chandler saw a peak wind gust of 40 mph, with Sky Harbor reporting a 26 mph wind gust as of  4 p.m.

These strong winds triggered blowing dust advisories for the Phoenix metro area and northern Pinal County. Wind Advisories were issued for most of northern Arizona through Thursday evening.

As the front continues to push to the southeast, the winds will subside and a cooler, drier air mass will move in behind it from the northwest.

Friday morning, winds are expected to be light in the Valley. Phoenix is expected to drop to a low of 66 under mostly clear skies. The afternoon high is expected to reach only 88 degrees under sunny skies.

The 90s will return to the Valley this weekend as the airflow shifts into the area from the west. By Saturday, look for a high of 92 in Phoenix with 95 on Sunday. Overnight lows will remain in the 60s under clear skies.
