PHOENIX -- A cold front is still headed our direction from over in California. It will brings us some clouds, breezes and cooler temperatures beginning Friday. However, it will not bring any significant rain to our state.

The storm itself is a bit unusual for this time of year. Normally, the jet stream has begun its northward progression for the summer months. However, things are a little bit different this year.

The jet stream has yet to retreat and we’re still getting periodic influxes of air from Canada.  This overall pattern could also result in a late “start” to our summer monsoon.

Officially, the monsoon starts on June 15, but the big question each year is when will the thunderstorms actually make it to the Valley.

As for the next couple of days, metro Phoenix highs will only be in the low-to-mid 90s through the weekend with triple digit highs returning next week.
