ANTHEM, Ariz. -- -- The Anthem teen has perfect pitch and practices tirelessly to learn how to sing her favorite songs. Her parents, Rob and Rae Lynn, says their daughter, who deals with the challenges of autism, has been in love with music since she was a little girl and they've seen how Michelle calms herself with a song as she battles autism.
"I think she's found something all of us are looking for, something to give us peace in our everyday minds." Rob McIndoe said.
Michelle's music teacher during the past two years, Erin Tompkins, says the sky's the limit for her teenage student. She also says few of those she's ever taught have the dedication and love of music Michelle shows.
At the recent regional high school voice competition, Michelle, who's a sophomore, won the soprano division which puts her in the state championships in two weeks. She does a lot of performing at recitals and other competitions already, and will sing the incredibly difficult National Anthem this coming Saturday at the Oakland A's spring training game.
