TEMPE, Ariz. -- It's no surprise to learn that we have some fantastic teachers here in our state. And now four special instructors are getting some recognition!

For 15 years, the group Chicanos Por La Causa has been recognizing outstanding educators who positively impact their students and the community.

3TV was there Friday as one of those winners got the news that she was a recipient!

Graciela Jauregui is a preschool teacher at Getz Elementary School in Tempe. She was picked for her outstanding efforts in the classroom and in the community. She'll receive $5,000, and her school will receive $2,500.

"Right now I'm just wordless," she says. "I'm excited. I never thought I was going to win. I mean, maybe get nominated, but me, myself? No."

Priscilla Valencia of Chicanos Por La Causa says her organization is please to honor teachers each year with the The Esperanza Latino Teacher Awards "We recognize teachers that have done much for their students and the community."

All four teachers who receive the award will be publicly recognized at the 15th Annual Esperanza Latino Teacher Awards on October 10 at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown.
