PHOENIX -- If you're in the market for a used car, pickup truck, or even something unusual like a snowplow or dump truck, you won't want to miss the Arizona Department of Transportation's annual spring auction this Saturday, April 6, in Phoenix.
ADOT will be auctioning off hundreds of vehicles, including 31 sedans, 86 pickups and 10 snowplows,. You'll also find other surplus equipment that has been replaced or used beyond its life cycle with the agency. That equipment includes front-end loaders, dump trucks, air compressors, message boards and assorted construction equipment.
Good Morning Arizona's Gina Maravilla gave us a preview Thursday of what's in store for bidders, showing us row after row of vehicles up for auction.
ADOT Spokesman Doug Nintzel says the auction draws a wide variety of bidders. "We have those families who have young college students, maybe somebody who's looking for that first car for a teenager," says Nintzel "They're looking for a good deal, and that often happens out here."
The ADOT Auction takes place Saturday, April 6, at ADOT Equipment Services, 2350 S. 22nd Avenue in Phoenix. That's just south of Buckeye. Gates open at 6 a.m., and bidding starts promptly at 8 a.m. All potential bidders must register in person.
ADOT encourages those who plan to attend to dress appropriately for the outdoor event. Please wear proper footwear, use sunscreen, wear a hat and bring some drinking water.
The vehicles and equipment will be sold on an "as-is" basis. More information about the auction, including an item list, is available on ADOT's website.
