TEMPE, Ariz. – Tempe police have arrested two people suspected of breaking into a group home then trying to hide from officers inside a Wal-Mart store.
John Furfaro, 31, and Candice Hough 29, were arrested for second-degree burglary.
Lt. Michael Pooley said Furfaro and Hough were involved in breaking into a group home near Southern and College avenues at approximately 8:45 a.m. Wednesday.
They then fled the area on a motorcycle.
Officers spotted the motorcycle and followed them into the Wal-Mart parking lot at Southern Avenue and Rural Road. Pooley said the two suspects ran into the store and changed clothes.
The store was temporarily locked down while police searched for Furfaro and Hough. A short time later, police detained both suspects.
Pooley said Furfaro and Hough had outstanding warrants for their arrest and Furfaro was also found in possession of heroin and methamphetamine when taken into custody.
